So, we’ve recently released a new outdoor-based meter, SwitchBot Outdoor Meter (cleverly named, as you can see), and you can place it outside to monitor outdoor temperature. The great thing about this meter is that it can also be used inside too.

It’s also IP65 waterproof, which means, it’s great for places like:
  • Outside
  • In pet cages
  • Inside cigar boxes
  • Inside fridge
Or even
  • In the bathroom!

Such a great little device, but… Something’s missing… Every time I want to check Outdoor Meter, I have to open my phone just to check the temperature or humidity when I’m a little curious about the environment around me. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to see the temperature and humidity readings of this device without using my phone?

Well, here’s a solution!

Hub 2 now supports displaying temperature and humidity recordings from Outdoor Meter. At the same time, when Outdoor Meter detects abnormal temperature and humidity, Hub 2 will automatically alert you with sound alerts and alarms too. Not enough to excite you? Well, SwitchBot Meter and Meter Plus are also supported too. So when you don’t know what to wear today, or whether you are a new mom/dad, pet lover, or just worry about your fridge breaking down (food, people) you’ll be able to use temperature data to your advantage, all at a glance.

Not sure what to wear today? Just one look is all it takes.

In the morning, when you leave to go outside, you feel the wind and realize that you are wearing too little. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could know more about outdoor temperature and humidity earlier?
Before, we know some users placed SwitchBot Outdoor Meter outside and checked their phones before going out to see what to wear today. Now, with Hub 2, the experience is a little different…

Know when your baby is too hot! A must-have gadget for new parents.

As we all know, the ideal temperature for a baby’s room is 16 to 20 degrees Celsius, with ideal humidity being around 30% to 60%. If the temperature is too high or too low, or if the humidity is too dry or too wet, it may cause skin problems, breathing difficulties, colds, and other symptoms for babies. Therefore, placing an Outdoor Meter around can help you monitor and adjust the environment of your baby’s room in time, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Turtles, snakes, lizards, songbirds Look over here!

It’s not easy to take good care of our little “family members”. Whether they are ectotherms like turtles, snakes, and lizards, or endotherms like songbirds, or rabbits, they can be very sensitive to temperature and humidity and so need a suitable environment to be healthy and comfortable in. Outdoor Meter’s small size and waterproofing make it very suitable for placing in pet boxes. It also supports viewing data on your phone via Bluetooth. And now with Hub 2, it’s more convenient to look after your pets.

Fridge breaking down? Driving you nuts? You need this.

As the saying goes, better safe than sorry. Although fridges are generally safe, should you forget to close the door, or the the cooling system has problems, the temperature in the fridge may rise and the humidity will increase. The food you stored will also go bad due to the change in the environment. Putting an Outdoor Meter in the fridge can help you record temperature and humidity at all times. And with Hub 2, you can also get smart reminders. This is also a great feature to help with cigar boxes or wine storage places.

Set up in less than 10 seconds.

Got an Outdoor Meter and Hub 2? Looking to get setup?
From the home page, tap Hub 2 to enter the secondary interface, and then tap the gear icon in the upper right corner to enter the Hub 2 settings interface.
Select “Display Settings”, tap “Panel Display Source”, choose the Outdoor Meter you want to sync, and tap Save.
If you want to enable the sound and light alarm function of Hub 2, you can tap Alarm Conditions in the Hub 2 settings page and turn on the sound and light alarm. Please note that the alarm conditions still need to be set on the Outdoor Meter settings page.
What you’ll need:
  • SwitchBot app version: 7.2
  • Hub 2 firmware version: 09-07 (Please click on the Do Not Disturb mode in Hub 2 for firmware upgrade)
  • Meter/Meter Plus also supports this feature
  • Your Hub 2‘s Sound & Alarm switch will be off by default after switching data sources. You can go to Hub 2 Settings>Desired Conditions to turn it on again.
Not too shabby huh? But there’s more! Hub 2, which already integrates a thermometer, universal infrared remote control, and smart home hub, also added a step-less brightness adjustment screen functionality. Just check your Hub 2 device display settings to find out more!

Great addition, so how do I get my Hub 2 to update to the required firmware??? I checked and there’s no update available, which means I cannot use this new feature

Can the Hub display multiple data sources at the same time (like rotating between the hub, and other data sources) or does it display only one source at a time and would need to change the data source in the application if needed?

    1. BK

Only once source at a time I’m afraid, you can change the data source via our app though.
