Custom Non-Tapered Channels for Countless Projects

It’s good knowing you have options in design with regard to cost and flexibility. With Stainless Structurals’ laser fused and non-tapered carbon steel and laser fused and hot rolled stainless steel channel profiles, you have the flexibility put directly into your hands.

Design Freedom

Stainless Steel Channel Profile

Like other structural profiles such as angles, two of the main production processes are laser fusing and hot rolling. In stainless, both hot rolled and laser fused profiles offer two different ways to get a job done. Hot rolled stainless channel profiles offer a greater cost savings while being limited to commodity sizes. These hot rolled sizes range from 2” to 8” and come in 20-22’ random lengths.

Laser fused stainless channels, however, have near limitless design flexibility. Our thicknesses range from 3/16” to 1-1/4” for full penetration welds, and our profile dimensions range from 1” to 20”. These laser fused profiles have a standard length of 20’ (-0”/+4”) but can also be produced from 10’ up to 45’ for custom orders. Stainless laser fused profiles are popular in both industrial and architectural applications where corrosion resistance is an important factor to consider. Both hot rolled and non-tapered laser fused stainless steel applications include sectors such as marine, food grade, aerospace, and water and waste treatment in the industrial market as well as store fronts and canopies, building facades, and curtain walls in the architectural sector.

Potential Project Cost Reductions

You may have a job that requires the design flexibility of laser fused material but do not necessarily need the corrosion resistance (and associated cost) of a 304/L or 316/L grade profile. That is where our laser fused, non-tapered carbon steel channel profiles come in. Like our offerings of various stainless and duplex grades, we also offer custom non-tapered carbon channel profiles in both A36 and Grade 50.
Non-tapered laser fused carbon profiles provide the wide range of design flexibility like stainless while also cutting down greatly on overall costs. Typically, carbon steel is approximately half the price of a 304/L grade in stainless steel. This reduction in cost coupled with laser fused material’s sharp, 90-degree corners and non-tapered flanges can offer exactly what your architectural project calls for in both form and function.

Aesthetic Bonuses for the Architectural Eye

The uniform bead blasted finish on all of our laser-fused material avoids the distinctive rolling lines of hot rolled material. All laser fused non-tapered stainless and carbon profiles come with this standard finish. As mentioned previously, non-tapered carbon channels have the benefit of marrying form and function. Indoor glazing applications are one of the most popular projects for which we are proud to produce. The lack of environmental corrosive facts in conjunction with the need for a non-tapered, 90-degree interior radius provides both the cost savings as well as the required design to securely hold glass panels while being pleasing to the eye.

Custom Stainless and Carbon Channels and More

Our laser fused, non-tapered carbon and stainless channel profiles are but a few of the myriad options Stainless Structurals is proud to offer. Anything from angles and beams to sharp-cornered hollow structurals like square and rectangular tubing are our specialty. Whether you need a commodity shape in stainless or a non-tapered carbon profile with both custom thicknesses and length, we can handle it. With a minimum order quantity of just one 20’ stick and no weight requirement as well as our ability to produce up to 20” profiles, no job is too big or too small for us to tackle.
