The basic accessories for the tyre changing season:

  • tyre valves
  • tyre bags

Other expenses:

  • weight pliers
  • pressure roller
  • tyre changer + wheel balancer
  • tyre mounting paste + brush
  • impact wrench
  • lift

Well – tools are an obvious thing. But how about the expenses on consumables

What is needed for changing 1 tyre in 1 car?

Let’s think about it. For a standard steel rim you would need:

  • 2 wheel weights (for the outside and inside)
  • 1 valve
  • 1 tyre bag

Obviously, these are sample values. It may happen you would need more than 2 weights for 1 wheel – it depends on the rim condition, right? Overall, these are the basic things every tyre service specialist needs.

How many consumables for 1 car?

What wheel weights should you recommend to your clients?

It depends. There is a whole array of weights to choose from:

  • lead weights (forbidden in some EU countries)
  • steel weights
  • zinc weights
  • adhesive weights

Obviously, the lead ones are the cheapest. However, in some places in Europe it is forbidden to use them.

Regarding the adhesive weights. Please keep in mind that they are more in-demand during the summer. This is because they are designed for the ALU rims.

How about tyre valves?

The most popular ones are:

  • TR413
  • TR414

They are usually sold in sets of 100, 200, 500 or even 1000 items. It might be a good idea to get them in a larger set, since these consumables simply have to be available at hand. So, don’t hesitate to offer the valves as bigger sets to your clients.

How about tyre bags?

Essentially, 1 tyre bag of 62 cm fits 2 tyres (max. 16″). However, just to stay on the safe side, consider getting more of these for your customers. Other than buying them as single items, think about getting a few sets consisting of 100 bags.

Well, it’s always a tough issue. To make things easier for you, we decided to come up with a couple of short statistics. Let’s see how many consumables you need for 100 cars:
